About ASEAN-India Regional Office (AIRO)

Mission

  1. Contribute to creating a more prosperous society in the ASEAN-India region by planning development of transport and tourism, taking a widely encompassing view of ASEAN, India, Japan, and North America and utilizing links with the other bases of JTTRI.
  2. Make tangible progress in local areas of the ASEAN-India region in meeting current and future challenges facing transport and tourism by facilitating cooperation of industry and academia.
  3. Build a long-lasting relationships of friendship and trust between public officials and private businesspersons in the transport and tourism areas in the ASEAN-India region and Japan, by promoting communication, collaboration and cooperation.

Duties

  1. Collect information on trends, hindering factors, and needs of the policies, regulations, infrastructure development, etc. created for transport and tourism in the ASEAN-India region.
  2. Conduct surveys and research, including analyzing collected information, discovering problems, and considering concrete plans to resolve those problems, based on JTTRI's academic and practical knowledge regarding transport and tourism in Japan.
  3. Provide results of surveys and research, including policy proposals, widely to stakeholders, mainly in the ASEAN-India region and Japan, through online distribution and publication of reports, holding seminars and symposiums, etc.
  4. Establish organizational and interpersonal networks among stakeholders in international, governmental, academic, and private institutions in the ASEAN-India region and Japan through the above data collection, surveys, research, information distribution/provision, etc.
