Event Summary
In ASEAN countries, it is hard to say that traffic statistics are comprehensively maintained like in Japan, and due to the rapid growth rate of cities, it is difficult to deal with using only traditional Japanese costly and time-consuming statistical methods. On the other hand, big data collected by mobile devices such as smartphones can acquire data quickly and at low cost, and it is expected to be utilized for effective transportation policy recommendations.
JTTRI decided to provide an opportunity for the concerned parties of ASEAN-Japan to consider the development and presentation of new traffic information that surpasses the existing Inter-Regal Travel Survey in Japan and the Person Trip Survey by dynamic demographics such as hourly and seasonally and grasping the actual situation of new mobile trips, based on "MBD", the development of new traffic statistics and utilization for transportation policy recommendations in ASEAN countries.
Based on this situation, in this seminar, the building traffic statistics by big data obtainable in many forms, and the prospects of transportation and tourism by using the latest data were presented and discussed.
Representatives of the ASEAN countries also presented the status and future challenges on MBD utilization in each nation, exchanging useful information.
