Event Summary

India is emerging as a global power with rapid economic growth as well as huge population and market. In National Capital Territory of Delhi with a population of around 35 Million, the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project has been proactively implemented to connect the centre of Delhi city and its suburban cities with speed of 160 kmph with the development of the areas along the railway lines (Transit Oriented Development), following the development of Delhi Metro network to which Japan’s cooperation contributed.
The Japan Transport and Tourism Research Institute (JTTRI) has invited former Managing Director of National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), Mr. Vinay Kumar Singh to deliver a keynote address to share his experiences in the development of transformational RRTS project.
Following the keynote address, four distinguished Japanese academic professionals in the field of transport engineering and practitioners in the development and operation of urban railways in the Tokyo metropolitan area and the Osaka area as well as in the international cooperation in India will join in a panel discussion. The participants are encouraged to consider the relationship between railway and the sustainable economic development of region and urban planning in India as well as the meaning and possibility of participation including investment from Japan.
