The coastal shipping is the mainstay of domestic freight transport. In the context of global environment problems, there is a move to actively use the coastal shipping for modal shift. In order to achieve the modal shift, it is necessary to consider about characteristics of transportation the material, services and fares, the size of the lot or packing, etc. There is a difficult problem to find a decisive modal shift unconditionally.The purpose of this study is clarified the possibility of choosing coastal shipping to consider the difference of the freight transport service and the material.
