Event Summary

Many large-scale sporting events such as the Olympic and Paralympic Games so far have received numerous cyber attacks, and it is feared that similar attacks will occur at the Tokyo 2020 Games.

In addition, overseas, there are cyber attacks targeting public transportation. Looking at the details of the attacks, the attack methods have been diversifying in recent years, including the damage spreading to the closed networks that have been considered safe. A large-scale sporting event is scheduled to be held from 2019 to 2020, and if a huge cyber attack occurs, it will cause huge damage to the operation of the tournament, etc., and its countermeasure is an urgent issue.

In light of this situation, we invited security experts Mr. Toshio Nawa, Mr. Fumiaki Yamazaki, and Mr. Takeshi Tachi of the Tokyo Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games to give lectures to raise awareness of threats of cyber attacks and promote countermeasures for management. In the Q & A session after the lecture, there were lively discussions such as questions about risks of the system currently installed.

Although it was held as a closed seminar on the day, the seminar was successful with approximately 80 participants including the management of transportation companies in the railway and airline fields.
